To Dear Mum On Her Birthday

Dear Mum

Like most children I didn't always appreciate
all the things you did for me;
I just assumed
that I'd be loved and pampered
and that you'd fix any crisis.
I can't ever repay you, Mum, but sometimes
I wish I could go back to my childhood,
to relive some of those moments when
you were teaching me about love
.....giving me acceptance
.......lending me strength.
And each time I would hug you tight
and say " Thank You".

To My Mother and Father

Parents are wonderful people
One is as dear as the other
And nothing on earth is more precious
Than the love of a father and mother.

They plan for the needs and praise the deeds
Of their children day after day
And lovingly try to prepare them
For everything life brings their way.

Parents encourage, help, guide and
Give their time - and yes, their tears
And the love parents give to their children
Only makes them closer through the years.

IRISH BLESSINGS

May you live as long as you want,
And never want, as long as you live.

------

May your neighbours respect you
Trouble neglect you
The angels protect you
And Heaven accept you

THE PRESENT

Yesterday is past
Tomorrow is but a dream
Today is a gift...
That is why we call it the present.

WHO IS IT?

Every time I see a church
I pay a little visit
So when I am finally carried in
God won't say "who is it ? "

AT DAYS END

Is anybody happier because you passed his way
does anyone remember that you spoke to him today
the day is almost over and its toiling time is through
is there anyone to utter now a kindly word of you

can you say tonight in parting with the day thats slipping fast
that you helped a single brother of the many that you passed
is a single heart rejoicing over that you did or said
does the man whose hopes were fading now with courage look ahead

did you waste the day or lose it? was it well or sorely spent
did you leave a trail of kindness or a scar of discontent
as you close your eyes in slumber do you think God will say
"You have earned one more tomorrow by the work you did today"

TRY TO UNDERSTAND

" I'll lend you, for a little while, a child of mine" God said
"for you to love while he lives, and mourn for, when he's dead;
it may be six or seven years, or ninety two or three,
but will you, till I call him home, take care of him for me?"

"I cannot promise that he'll stay, since all, from earth, must return
but there are lessons taught down there I want this child to learn;
I have looked the wide world over in my search for teachers true
and from the throngs that crowd life's lanes I have selected you".

God fancied that he heard them say, "Dear Lord Thy will be done,
for all the joy Thy child shall bring the risk of grief we'll run,
we'll shelter him with tenderness and love him while we may
and for the happiness we' ve known, forever grateful stay"

"But should the angels call for him much sooner than we planned
we'll brave the bitter grief that comes, and try to understand".
